Rev. Kevin Sharp

Lead Pastor

Originally from Michigan, Pastor Kevin has felt a calling to love and serve God's people from a young age. His journey in ministry has taken him from serving as a youth leader to being a missionary in New York City for five years and now to his current roles as Lead Pastor at HOPE Lutheran Church and a chaplain in the U.S. Navy Reserve.

Pastor Kevin is passionate about sharing the hope of Jesus Christ, building meaningful relationships, and helping people grow in their faith. When he's not at church, you'll likely find him spending time with his wife, Tessa, enjoying the outdoors, or in his garage woodworking.

Dcs. Karen Swift

Deaconess

California Born and raised, Deaconess Karen has a heart for bringing people together and sharing the love of Jesus. Her Colombian heritage and lifelong Lutheran faith have shaped her passion for helping women and families feel welcomed, loved, and connected to Christ and His Church.

Not only a deaconess, Karen is also the founder of Priscilla Ministries/Ministerios Priscilla, where she brings women and families together through Bible studies, fellowship, and retreats throughout San Diego and Tijuana. At HOPE Lutheran, Karen especially enjoys connecting with the Spanish-speaking community, building friendships, and walking alongside others as they grow in faith. Her greatest joy is helping people discover the hope, grace, and love found in Jesus Christ.

Kelsey Parker

Ministry Coordinator/Business Manager

Kelsey joined the HOPE Lutheran team in August 2026, bringing with her a heart for serving others and a passion for helping the church connect with its community. After a career in environmental compliance, Kelsey felt God calling her into a new chapter—one where she could use her gifts to serve His people, share Christ’s love, and support the mission of the church. She sees this role as more than a career change; it is an opportunity to faithfully answer God’s call and serve His Kingdom in a meaningful way.

At HOPE, Kelsey helps keep church life running smoothly through events, communications, outreach, and daily operations. Kelsey enjoys cooking for others, spending time with her family, and getting outdoors for a walk.
